UPDATE: Chance of showers or thunderstorm today, then hot later this week...

May 10, 2023

**UPDATED from earlier post due to shower/thunderstorm chances**

Chance of showers or a thunderstorm today (Wednesday), then the HEAT IS ON! Never leave pets or kids inside a car during warm/hot temps - in just 10 minutes at 80° outside it's 99 inside the car even with the windows cracked...90° outside means 109 inside the car. Check out the roller coaster of temperatures over the next 10-days. Normal high is 68° and Mother's Day Sunday looks to be 25° above normal. High temps start to cool early next week but a disturbance in the area on Monday is expected to increase humidity and cause a few showers or thunderstorms over the mountains which may drift into our area (Monday).

We're at 77% of normal precipitation since the start of the water year on Oct 1 and 56% of Oregon remains in a drought. For Lane County, 46% is in a moderate drought (level 1 of 4).

NOTE: Oregon's Good Samaritan Law, HB 2732 / ORS 30.813 removes liability on any person rescuing a child or animal in distress or imminent danger from being left inside an unattended vehicle. https://www.oregonhumane.org/dogs-children-hot-cars/
