It's Thursday and there's GOOD NEWS: A low pressure system will bring up to 1/3" of total rainfall from light rain showers and isolated thunderstorms Friday night through Saturday night! The last time we had a few light showers was back on July 16 (0.05"), but we have to go all the way back to June 15 for when we can say we last got some light rain (0.09"). It's also going to feel a bit humid and muggy. Strong winds are not expected, but shifting winds could temporarily blow some smoke into the area at times. At this time, I don't see any heatwaves through the end of the month.
Fires? Although this amount of rain won't put any of the fires out, it will give firefighters a major upper hand, massively slow fire growth, and help reduce how "hot" the fires are burning. In order for the fires to be put out, we'll have to get several good and very wet storms. This probably won't occur until later September or sometime in October.
