No kidding it's smoky! Will it clear out? Any rain?

August 4, 2024

It's Sunday and smoky! I don't see any signs of a major pattern change over the next 10-14 days (accuracy decreases after 5-7 days out). So continued dry and warm/hot. High temperatures will continue to be above normal and vary from the upper 80's to the low 90's (normal is 84).

SMOKE: IF winds cooperate later today, smoke may mix out a little bit, but air quality may stay between moderate and unhealthy through Monday if winds don't shift as expected. Tuesday through Friday, air quality will likely fluctuate between good / moderate, and could, at times, dip into unhealthy like what's happening today (Sunday). Tuesday and Wednesday, the winds might blow more solidly from a direction that will cause less smoke so air quality might improve to "good." We'll see, since the overall weather pattern isn't aggressive enough for persistent and strong enough winds to blow out the smoke. FIRES: Take a deep breath! At this time, regional fires do not pose a threat to Cottage Grove. If you live east of the city, you should follow all instructions from authorities and ensure you have a way to receive evacuation updates.

FIRE INFO MAPS: Some links to fire info. Note many fires are updated every 3-6-9-12-24 hours, which is why you might see something like "updated 3 hours ago" or "updated 24 hours ago." https://inciweb.wildfire.gov/ https://www.oregon.gov/odf/fire/pages/firestats.aspx https://odffire.com/ https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/6329d5e4e13748b9b9f7f33f06a3c376/?fbclid=IwAR2HH7Zxyi-vqihq8pWQJKzynrFK19bKFow-VjTAn3Puz6lZtHpz5JrTgP4
