Continued much drier than normal!

February 2, 2022

Wed Feb 2: Happy Groundhog Day! Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning. According to folklore, if he sees his shadow, six more weeks of winter is in store. But not for us, as we'll be significantly more drier than normal through mid or late February. Some signals that a wet pattern may develop during the last 7-10 days of February and continue through March. We've recorded 23.81" of precipitation since the start of the water year on Oct 1. Normal to date is 25.03". I do think we'll see at least an average spring in terms of precipitation, based on what I see now. However, if we continue to be dry, then a potentially active fire season starts to become a concern. But let's not go there just yet.
