Storm's not over with up to 2-6" of snow still remaining possible through Thursday morning, with the best chances for accumulating in-town snow later this afternoon or evening through Thursday morning. Although unlikely, there remains the very small possibility that we can get 7-10" of snow if things align just right. Just after noon today and at least to the time of this email, it was snowing moderately in Cottage Grove with the temperature at 35°. Winds will mostly light, but a few gusts to 20 mph possible. High temperatures today upper 30's/near 40, lows tonight bottoming out in the low to mid 20's, so remember your pets.

Why didn't we get more snow last night / this morning? In-town temperatures didn't fall below 33° because the storm system unexpectedly stalled around Astoria (note snow can fall with temps as high as 36-38, but won't stick until temps lower). This prevented more cold air from moving in that would otherwise have allowed for slightly more snow to fall. ALSO, the snow showers were scattered and hit/miss. Roadcams showed accumulating snow this morning at the Creswell overpass and on I-5 near Goshen (see below). This demonstrates the "scattered" heavier snow showers that have been occurring. Storm system will slowly move south today, allowing for more opportunities for snow down to 500' through Thursday morning.

Snow chances will come to an end by Thursday afternoon as daytime temps warm. The focus then shifts to expected cold low temperatures of 13-17° Thursday night and again Friday night (coldest of the season) before warming into the upper 20's Saturday night. Highs today/Thursday mid-upper 30's.

Another dusting to 2" of snow is again possible Saturday night into Sunday morning, then we may see a rain/snow mix at times on Monday or a dusting to 2" if temperatures are cold enough. Thereafter, at this time it looks like additional storms will pass through later next week but with probably no chances of lowland snow.
